The guilt.....

I am learning that my constant feeling of guilt I am always feeling stems from low self-esteem. I do not think I deserve a break. Ever. Whenever I do take a break, I am too overwhelmed with guilt to enjoy myself. This is why I keep myself doing what I consider as "productive". This way I never have to feel the guilt. Obviously, this kind of lifestyle does not work. It i s another feeling that contributes to my irritability and grumpiness. It also contributes to me feeling exhausted all the time. What do some of you like to do to relax? Just curious......

  1. A good glass of red wine and a good book with a candle after the kids are in bed, drawing, painting, writing, a bubble bath, bike rides, motorcycle rides, walks on warm evenings, bonfires, and music. These things relax me. Dama

  2. Oh yeah, and don't forget to pamper yourself once in a while. You gotta take care of yourself so that you can take care of your babies. Pedicures are great, so are new haircuts, or mini facials. Guess I never knew you had some of the same issues I've faced for a long time. I have anxiety and perfectionist issues myself and am finally learning how to let some of it go. I commend you for putting it all out there for the world. That's brave! Good luck. Glad I found your blog. It's definately an inspiration.

  3. Dama- Thank you so much for your comment and ways to relax. Those are relaxing for me as well. All these things we do for ourselves help us let go and that is what we need. Please continue reading my blog. Comment on anything you like. There will be fun things to. Any insight you have to offer is always welcome. thanks again!!

  4. It IS brave. Good for you for really seeing yourself and not buckling under: not always an easy task!

I take really hot baths to chill out. I make quite the soup with the salts, (epsom, dead sea, mag flakes) peroxide, scents and whatever else I feel like throwing in there. I'm kind of addicted to them, it's a nice break that forces you to just stop because there's not much of an opportunity to double-task it, which us nervous folks tend to do to keep distracted. I've learned NOT to bring in a book or turn on the radio and really just sit there for 15 minutes and think. I know it sounds like the opposite of meditation but thinking things through without distraction always seems to help me:O)

  5. I can totally connect with that sentiment! (That lie that I can't give myself any down-time.) It's taken some self-convincing and support from my hubby and friends, but I think I'm finally getting to where I can sit around for a day and not feel guilty.

Today I did nothing but browse Etsy. It rocked. :0)

  6. I love to take baths too. I can't even remember the last time I have taken a shower. I get up early every morning to take a bath. That is one thing I do for myself. I also love to have a day when I do nothing but play and snuggle with my girls. I try to put my feelings of guilt out of my mind and just enjoy them. This is getting easier everyday.
